The Three Stages of Fighting

In Hwa Rang Do®, we address all stages of fighting.

  1. Stage One - standing up from a distance
In this stage, we learn proper footwork and kick/punch techniques to effectively render the opponent unconscious with striking techniques. If unable to finish from this position, then we learn to move inside and attain leverage in Stage Two.

  2. Stage Two - standing up in-close distance
In this stage, we learn to utilize proper holds and grips to gain a leverage position finish the opponent with effective joint dislocation and/or choke-out. If unable to finish, then we takedown the opponent and attain a leveraged position in Stage Three.

  3. Stage Three - on the ground, finish
In this stage, we learn to strike and finish the opponent while on the ground. If unable to contain the opponent, we learn to utilize grappling techniques (Gotoogi), joint manipulation, or neck manipulation to immobilize the opponent to submit and/or render them unconscious.
