Our Teuk Gong Team member, Reynaldo Macias, is quite a poet and has a new book out. Also, he will start teaching at the private elementary school, St. Matthew’s Parish School this autumn. Way to go!
Never one to consider any situation ordinary, Reynaldo writes about the daily occurrences of family and brotherhood with a style that is both thought-provoking and meaningful. Pick up his first book, Where I’m From, at www.cafepress.com/homeofthejedi today, and see what everyone is talking about!
Here is a poem he wrote for Tae Soo Do training:
Body Language: Practice
by Reynaldo Antonio Macías
“Hana!”
“Kiap!”
lean in touching forehead to sinews
pull muscles and discipline through aches and pains
build energy on stillness and candle flames
breathe hwa rang do meng sae
inhale values
exhale doubt
teach my bones to believe in
jedi evolution though Yoda
says I’m too old to begin
balance between closed fist pressing open hand
and
knuckles pushing up wood floors
strengthen wrists, will, perseverance
fingers fan out soft
blocks across line of fire
catch. kick. sweep. step. back kick. finish
inside knife hands cut out indecision
relax
stay loose
“Dul!”
