The annual Hwa Rang Do Midwest Championships is right around the corner. This interschool tournament is one in which HRD & TSD practitioners from all over the Midwest converge on Madison, WI for an event of competition and celebration. It should be mentioned that all HRD & TSD practitioners are of course welcome to join in the fun, however the usual make up of participants come from the Madison, Minneapolis, Chicago, Eau Claire, Oconomowoc, Milwaukee Academies and Clubs. The new club from the Fox Cities area will also be joining in on the competition this year.

This tournament is always a great environment for people to show off their skills, and also renew and establish bonds of camaraderie. The closeness of the people, from children running around the middle school, the parents and friends in the stands, to all the participants in action is always apparent, even when the team sparring gets rolling. ^^ Last year, the University of Chicago team won a very close match in the finals against the Minneapolis Academy (by 1 point), and everyone once again looks forward to seeing the teams, as well as all the individuals go at it, in a positive and constructive family manner.

One also shouldn’t forget the black sash demonstration during halftime! Once again the various instructors from the region will be putting on a display for all to see. There will also be the fundraising break-a-thon for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Every year the Midwest practitioners help contribute to a charity and its efforts to help make the community a better place.
All day Saturday April 30th in Madison is the date and place. Train hard and see you there!
(Again all HRD & TSD practitioners are welcome to compete and represent their dojangs, for further information visit www.hwarangdowi.com)
